Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common inquiries before sending an email.

Can I legally use generated names in my commercial book or game?

Yes, absolutely. Every name produced by RollForNames is constructed algorithmically in your browser from phonetic syllable tables and linguistic templates. You hold complete freedom to use, modify, publish, and copyright any generated names in commercial books, independent tabletop adventure modules, video games, actual-play podcasts, or web series without attribution, royalties, or licensing fees.

Do you collect, log, or store the names I create or save?

No. RollForNames is engineered as a static web application that generates names locally within your browser. We do not maintain server-side user accounts, do not monitor generation queries, and transmit zero name data across the network. Your saved favorites remain stored solely on your local device via browser local storage until you clear them or download an export file.

How can I suggest a new race or cultural naming style?

Send an email to our studio address with the proposed ancestry or tool category, a short description of the phonetic identity (such as sharp glottal consonants, flowing melodic vowels, or harsh guttural plosives), and five to ten example names. We review community requests against our roadmap for new sound matrices and guide content.

Can RollForNames be used offline during game night?

Yes. Because the generation engine is written entirely in client-side JavaScript without backend API calls, once a page is loaded in your browser on a laptop, tablet, or mobile phone, the generator will continue generating names and managing your shortlist even if your internet connection drops during a session.
